Competition Rules

Review the eligibility requirements, submission rules, important dates and prizes before submitting your mascot design.

👩‍🚀 Who Can Enter?

The competition is open to all Grade 8–11 learners attending registered public and independent schools in South Africa.

✏️ How It Works

  1. Create an original mascot design.
  2. Give your mascot a name.
  3. Describe the inspiration behind your design.
  4. Upload your artwork through this portal.
  5. Await judging and announcements.

📝 Submission Requirements

  • One entry per learner.
  • Designs must be original.
  • Accepted formats: JPG, PNG or PDF.
  • Maximum upload size: 5 MB.
  • Parent/Guardian consent is required.

📜 Competition Rules

  • Entries must be the learner's own work.
  • AI-generated artwork will not be accepted.
  • The mascot should represent SANSA and South Africa.
  • Offensive or inappropriate content will be disqualified.

  • Be creative and original.
  • Think about space exploration.
  • Celebrate South Africa's diversity.
  • Create a mascot that children can easily recognise.
  • Have fun and let your imagination shine!

🏆 Competition Prizes

Exciting prizes will be awarded to the winning designers, shortlisted participants and the schools represented by the Top 3 winners.

🥇 Grand Prize Winner

  • Your mascot is named in your honour.
  • Certificate signed by the SANSA CEO.
  • SANSA merchandise hamper.
  • R3 000 cash prize

🥈 1st Runner-Up

  • Certificate signed by the SANSA CEO.
  • SANSA merchandise hamper.
  • R2 000 cash prize

🥉 2nd Runner-Up

  • Certificate signed by the SANSA CEO.
  • SANSA merchandise hamper.
  • R1 500 cash prize

⭐ Shortlisted Designers

  • Official certificate of commendation.

🏫 School Prizes

The schools represented by the Top 3 competition winners will also receive the following prizes:

Winning School R60 000
1st Runner-Up School R25 000
2nd Runner-Up School R15 000

📅 Closing Date

Entries close at midnight on Monday, 14 September 2026.

Please ensure that your entry is fully submitted before the competition closes. Late entries will not be accepted.
